In the category 'favorite patterns'...

And another finished hat out of the category ‘favorite patterns I want to make’. This is the ‘Aesderina’ from Jane Richmond I found on Ravelry. I made it with Phildar Partner no 6 in an old pink color. (Do you notice the matching pink-striped tie?? hihi..) A mix with polyamide, wool and acrylic. Real fine yarn to work with and so soft.

I do think the hat turned out fine and I really, really love the shape. But.. I think the end of the hat can be better. I miss the purl stitches/rounds there. For this one I leave it this way. It’s oke.
Also I want to make some changes at the front and I think that there are great ways to do various tops. So a great basic shape to work with! I bought some new Phildar yarn but in Olive green and started another hat and will do some rewriting.

And thank you for all your kind and lovely comments on my first baby quilt/blanket. I love all your comments. You all made me smile!!

En nog een muts uit de categorie 'favoriete patronen op mijn lijstje'. Dit is de 'Aesderina' van Jane Richmond die ik via Ravelry heb gevonden. Ik heb h'm gemaakt met Phildar Partner no 6 in een oud roze kleur. (Zie je de matchende roze gestreepte das?! hihi... ) Een mix van polyamide, wol en acryl. Heel fijn garen om mee te werken en erg zacht.

Ik denk dat de muts prima is geworden en ik vind de vorm echt heel erg mooi. Maar.. ik denk dat het einde van de muts (de bovenkant) beter/anders kan. Ik mis echt de averechtse steken/ronden hier. Deze muts laat ik gewoon zo, het is verder prima zo maar ik wil er wel verder op puzzelen.
Ook wil ik de voorkant wat breder maken en ik denk dat er hele leuke variaties mogelijk zijn in de stekenwisseling. Dus een hele prima basis muts om mee te werken! Ik heb al wat nieuwe Phildar gekocht, in het Olijf groen en ben begonnen met een andere muts en dan ga ik het één en ander herschrijven.

En iedereen bedankt voor de lieve en mooie reacties op mijn eerste baby quilt/deken. Jullie hebben me allen zeer vrolijk gemaakt!

SEWING time!!

It popped up in my head, just sudden.. And so I started to feel the fabrics again. I knew it would going to be a baby blanket with all kind of colored blocks. (For my friend, she’s pregnant. Joehoe!!)

I was sitting on the floor with the fabrics around me and mixed and matched for quite a while. It felt good.. After making stripes, then blocks and laying everything in a good pattern, the sewing started again. After a few months, it felt a bit weird but after a few lines I got the rhythm back. But I wanted just to sew! No measuring, no details and definitely no perfectionism! So I let go off the idea of 7x7 blocks and I worked with different sizes. Everything is unequally but the whole block together is straight sized. I made a frame with yellow-white striped fabric.

Then a lot of thinking, dubbing and figuring out how to go further.. I never quilted before, never made layers or made a binding. So finally (yes finally because this took a while) I decided to use a fabric with black stripes for the back. It’s bit of an old fashion fabric. Great for the inner side of a blanket! And… I could use the stripes for the quilted lines. And so it happened and it worked.. Pffhh.. ( I did lose some sweat here..)..

So now for the binding. Never did that either and I don’t think I’m going to like this job. I made it easier on myself to take blocked fabric. It was a great help with the cutting and measuring! But nevertheless I was right, I don’t like this job, so really no stitching by hand but with the machine.

For a first time it fits great and everything turned out straight and in a 90degrees angle.

For over more than 4 months I couldn’t sew. I didn’t have any energy or spirit, inspiration, nothing. I had to let it go, to get it back. And here it is. At least, it's a first step. Proud and happy.

Mittens, a hat, hats and mittens.. Mittens and hats and hats and mittens!

After finishing the ‘Felicity’ hat I started on some mitts in the same yarn. I like these a lot! I used the ‘Toasty’ pattern but adjusted it to the right gauge. I’m making a lot of mitts these days. I’m into the rhythm and I like the beat of it.

Also I started another ‘Felicity’ in black but I wanted to make it a bit less slouchy so I did some changes at the increasing and decreasing. It turned out to be a complete different hat. It’s a classier hat I guess. For the next one I’m going to adjust it more so there’s going to be more class in it. It’s in my head, you’ll see went it’s done. First I have a lot off mitts to finish and put on the mail.

Nadat ik de ‘Felicity’ muts af had was ik begonnen aan een paar bijpassende wantjes. Ik vind ze echt heel top! Ik had het ‘Toasty’ patroon gebruikt maar aangepast voor de juiste steekverhouding. Ik ben een boel wanten aan het maken de laatste tijd. Ik heb het ritme te pakken en de maat is lekker.

Ook was ik een andere ‘Felicity’ begonnen in het zwart maar die wilde ik een stuk minder fluffig maken dus heb ik wat zitten veranderen in de minderingen en bij het meerderen. Nou is het echt een compleet andere muts geworden. Meer klassieker, denk ik. Ik wil nu een volgende nog meer aanpassen zodat er meer ‘klasse’ in komt. Wat hoedachtiger. Maar dat zit in mijn hoofd, je ziet het wel als die af is. Eerst ga ik een boel wanten afmaken en op de bus doen.

Via Craftzine vond ik het werk van Elaine Bradford, die gehaakte sculpturen maakt. Ik hou (en snap) niet alles maar deze werken vind ik echt super mooi! Heel inspirerend! Voor meer werk moet je kijken op Elaine Bradford.

Operation Nice..

I found a great site about 'nice things' called Operation Nice. What's it about? "Don't you love it when people go out of their way to be nice? Like when someone waits to hold the door for you. Or when a stranger waves you into a line a traffic. Or even when a coworker shoots you a friendly smile along with a "have a nice day." If everyone was a little bit nicer to the folks they encountered each day, perhaps the world would be a more pleasant place. Operation NICE was initiated to remind you that a little NICE goes a long way."

I love this idea, the spirit behind it and I love the site! Because this weekend my sister told me a story about a real, real, real 'nice thing' which I was really touched by, I mailed it to the site and they published it. Here is the link! But most of all be nice...

Slouchy 'Felicity' hat

The 'Felicity' hat was on my list. Then the ADD Knitter motivated me, with all her finished Felicity's, to start, so here it is! A very easy hat to knit. At the moment I like easy patterns with just knitted or purl stitches and some increasing and decreasing. It's soothing for me at the moment. But then again, the pattern is still great and the result is perfect. A simple, pure hat. It's a tweed like wool in nice blue. Like the ADD Knitter I casted 90 stitches on. I used (circular) needle 5 mm.

Oh, and something different.. Music! Yesterday at a dutch tv show there was this performance of Ane Brun. A singer from Norway, I never heard of before, but WAUW!! Here is the link for this performance and song 'Changing the Seasons'. Beautiful!!!!

De 'Felicity' muts stond al een tijdje op mijn lijstje. Toen motiveerde de ADD Knitter me, met al al haar mooie Felicity's, om te beginnen en zie, hier is zij! Een hele makkelijke muts om te breien. Op het moment ben ik erg van de gemakkelijke patronen met alleen rechte en averechte naalden en wat minderen of meerderen. Het is rustgevend ofzo, op het moment, denk ik. Maar dan alsnog, het patroon is erg mooi en het resultaat is perfect. Een simpele, pure muts. Het is een beetje een tweed-achtige wol in een mooie blauwe kleur. En zoals de ADD Knitter heb ik ook 90 steken opgezet en heb ik 5 mm (rondbrei) naalden gebruikt.

Oh, en iets anders... Muziek! Voor degene die niet naar Paul de Leeuw kijken of het gemist hebben. Gister was er een optreden van Ane Brun, een Noorse zangeres. Ik had nog nooit van haar gehoord maar jemig, WAUW!! Hier is de link naar het optreden van het nummer 'Changing the Seasons'.

New mom-made scarf for me!

My mom knitted this beautiful scarf for me. The stripes are diagonal and the end are also diagonal pointed. The main colour is a kind of aqua green and their are also black, brown and a bit grey stripes. It's a real light and soft, supergreat scarf! Thanks mom!

Mijn moeder heeft een hele mooie sjaal voor me gebreid. De strepen zijn diagonaal en ook de eindes zijn diagonaal gepunt. De strepen zijn van verschillende diktes. De hoofdkleur is een ietswat aqua groene kleur en ook zijn er zwarte, bruine en wat grijsachtige kleur strepen. Het is een hele lichte en zachte, supermooie sjaal! Bedankt mam!

In love with...

Flowers in the springtime! The best part of January and February are the tulips, anemones, snowdrops and daffodils. In these months I always have three, four vases and flower pots with these plants in my house. I like how you can see them grow..

I love music too! And my taste is very wide. For the past months I'm totally in love with Wende Snijders. She's a dutch singer/performer who sings french chansons. While listening and listening I'm more and more into the french chansons. It's music which I can feel. I'm listening a lot Jacques Brel and when I watch the old performence on you tube, I wish I could be there. The spirit, the passion, the expressions are great.

Searching for new/other french chansons I found a Belgium band called Noir Desir (black desire). I never heard of it (my belgium and french readers probably know this band) but they have this great song (not a chanson) with a great rhythm in it. It's called 'Le Vent nous Portera' and the guitarplay is from Manou Chao. I searched for some information on the band and a bizar detail is that the leadsinger of the band hit his girl (a famous actrice) while he's drunk. She died a few days later and the leadsinger was convicted for eight years. He's released from prison last year. Probably they will continu with the band and singing.

Ik hou van de bloemen in het voorjaar. Het beste aan januari en februari zijn de tulpen, de narcissen, de sneeuwklokjes en de anemonen. In deze maanden heb ik dan ook altijd tenminste drie, vier potten en vazen met bloemen staan. Ik hou ervan dat je ze ziet groeien..

Ik hou ook enorm van muziek. En mijn smaak is heel breed. In de laatste maanden ben ik helemaal gek van Wende Snijders. En ook al gaat ze steeds meer in het Nederlands zingen, vooral de franse chansons, vind ik helemaal geweldig. En terwijl ik meer en meer luister, ga ik franse chansons steeds meer waarderen. Het is muziek die ik ook echt voel. Ik luister veel naar Jacques Brel en als ik video's op you tube zie van zijn optredens dan denk ik, oh ik had daar graag willen zijn. Die passie, die energie.. geweldig!

Zoekende naar nieuwe/andere franse chansons, vond ik een belgische band, Noir Desir (zwart verlangen). Nooit van gehoord (mijn belgische en franse lezers zullen 't wel kennen, denk ik) maar zij hebben een geweldig nummer (geen chanson) met een top ritme erin. Het heet 'Le vent nous Portera' en het gitaarspel is van Manou Chao. Ik ging wat informatie opzoeken over deze band en bizar is wel dat de zanger van de band, een aantal jaren terug, zijn vriendin (een of andere actrice) in een dronken bui heeft geslagen. Zij is hieraan overleden en daardoor heeft de zanger acht jaar gezeten. Vorig jaar is hij vrij gekomen en zoals ik het begreep gaan ze wel weer verder met de band.

Echt, neem eens tijd en luister naar wat nummers. Ogen dicht en alleen luisteren en voelen. Onderaan deze pagina heb ik in de rechterkolom mijn mooiste nummers staan. En anders vind je hierboven nog wat leuke linkjes. Al is de kwaliteit niet denderend...

Toasty Mittens

I finished a pair of fingerless mittens. It's a pattern from A friend to knit with, called Toasty. The weird thing is that the gauge was correct but at the end the mitten turned out real small and the top is to long. It suits me very tight and I have a real small and tiny wrist and hand. And the top is very long and because of the stockinette stitch, the ends curl a bit and now the top curls to thick. Probably this is a vague explaining but I don't know how to explain more clear.

Anyhow, this set mittens is perfect for me and it was a nice excercise for getting better in making the thumb. These are better then the thumbs on the last mittens. I'm getting the math! I'm still having a lot of yarn left and I like the use of this yarn with this pattern. So I've already made a start for new ones. This time with more stitches and a bigger thumb hole.

Ik heb een paar vingerloze wanten gemaakt. Het is een patroon van A friend to Knit with, Toasty genoemd. Het gekke was dat de steekverhouding klopte maar dat uiteindelijk de want toch te smal is geworden en te lang aan de bovenkant. Hij past mij maar toch wel krapjes en ik heb dan ook nog eens echt dunne polsen en smalle handen. En de bovenkant is best lang en omdat ie alleen uit een tricot steek bestaat, gaan de eindes krullen en wordt de krul aan de bovenkant te dik. Dat zit niet helemaal lekker. Maargoed waarschijnlijk ben ik nu heel vaag maar ik weet niet hoe ik het anders moet uitleggen.

Nou ja, de wanten zijn prima voor mijzelf en het was een goede oefening in het maken van een duim. Deze zijn al stukken beter geworden dan de duimen bij het vorige paar. Ik begin de wiskunde van de want te snappen! Ik heb nog wat van dit garen over en ik vind het mooi garen voor deze wanten dus ik ben al begonnen aan een nieuw paar. Dit keer met wat meer steken en een groter duimgat.

Now it's my turn to give the award away. And because of all my knitting lately I'm giving the award to two fabulous knitters who inspire me so much.
Probably she received many awards yet for all the different, fabulous aspects of her work but still I want to give the award to Kirsten from Through the Loops. Her work and blog is so beautiful and inspired me to pick up knitting again and this time, keep the effort to learn. And I'm so glad I did.
Also I wanna give the Kreativ Award to The ADD Knitter. She makes all the great hats, berets, mittens, cowls, wraps.. everything! Her blog is pure and her pictures are perfect!

Vanmorgen werd ik verrast met een Award voor Kreativ Blogger. Super dank je wel Vermiljoen! Ik hoop dat je de brei-jeuk, die ik je heb gegeven, gaat krabben en dat we gauw mooie breiwerken van je gaan zien, op je blog!

Nu is het mijn beurt om de award weg te geven. En vanwege al mijn gebrei van de laatste tijd, geef ik de award aan twee geweldige breisters die mij enorm inspireren.
Waarschijnlijk heeft ze al heel veel awards gekregen voor al die verschillende, fantastische aspecten van haar werk maar toch geef ik de award aan Kirsten van Through the Loops. Haar werk en blog is zo mooi en zij heeft me absoluut geinspireerd om het breien op te pakken, en het ook vol te houden om het te leren. En ik ben zo blij dat ik dat heb gedaan.
Ook wil ik de award aan De ADD Knitter geven. Zij maakt alle fantastische mutsen, baretten, wanten, nekwarmers, sjaals.. echt alles! Haar blog is heel puur en haar foto's zijn perfect!

So far so good..

But this was the easy part... As you see I'm making an effort for socks again. I'm working with a Drops pattern as well as Drops sock yarn (fabel). It's a pattern for a bit bulky socks, so I'm working with two threads and needle 4 mm. That's probably less frustrating when it goes wrong at the heel.. because there are half less stitches then when I should work with one tread.
So I'll carefully go on and keep my fingers crossed.

Oke, tot zover gaat het goed maar dan was dit ook het makkelijke deel.. Zoals je ziet ben ik weer een poging aan het doen om sokken te breien. Ik werk met een Drops patroon en met Drops soken garen (fabel). Het is een patroon voor wat dikkere sokken dus ik werk met twee draden en naald 4 mm. Dus als het straks weer misgaat is dat een stuk minder frustrerend want ik werk nu maar met de helft van het aantal steken als wanneer ik met één draad zou werken. Dus ik ga voorzichtig verder en maar duimen dat het goed gaat.

Smooth energy

Since three weeks I'll make a smoothie at least once a day. Just peel some fruits and put a hand-held blender on it. This is one with two oranges, a pear and a banana. Also I use kiwi's, apples and put in yoghurt and biscuit rusk. It realy gives energy. Trust me, try this a few days and you'll see!
Sinds een week of drie maak ik tenminste één smoothie per dag. Gewoon wat fruit schillen en de staafmixer erop zetten. Dit is er ééntje met twee sinasappels, een peer en een banaan. Maar ik gebruik ook kiwi's, appels of ananas en gooi er yoghurt en beschuit in. 't Geeft echt energie. Vertrouw me en probeer 't eens een paar dagen. Je zult het zien!

Because of my selfmade chuckles this morning I had a great day. I had a smile on my face all the time.. It was a great day. Door mijn zelfgemaakte binnenpretjes van vanmorgen heb ik een hele fijne dag gehad. Ik heb de hele tijd moeten (glim)lachen.. Het was een fijne dag.

Chuckle about yourself

Realy, try this... Make a picture of yourself pretending to chuckle and before you know it, you'll have so much fun with yourself! At least that happened with me while taking pictures.
I made another hat from the 'Hip Knit Hats' book. Now I made model 'Duncan' with Lana Grossa 'Trefilo' 100% wool. It's bruin/ecru mix but that doesn't show of on the pictures. I think it turned out as a great hat. I'm definitely gonna start to make another one today. The're a perfect gift.



Echt, probeer dit eens... Een foto van jezelf maken terwijl je doet alsof je een binnenpretje hebt en voor je het weet heb je gigantisch lol met jezelf! Althans dat had ik toen ik foto's aan het maken was van mijn nieuwe muts.
Ik heb deze ook gemaakt uit het boek 'Hip Knit Hats' boek. Nu heb ik model 'Duncan' gemaakt met Lana Grossa 'Trefilo' 100% wol. Op de foto's is het niet goed te zien maar het is een bruin/ecru gemeleerde wol. Ik vind hem heel erg tof geworden. Ik ga dan ook zeker vandaag nog beginnen aan een andere. Dit is een leuk cadeautje!

I'm tagged by MiekKs. The instruction is to post the 4th picture of the 4th folder on your computer and then tag four other bloggers. Well my fourth folder contains all the wedding pictures from my sister and brother-in-law's wedding. I know they wouldn't appreciate it iff I put one of those pictures on the Internet. So I took the fifth folder and the fifth picture. And this is the one..
It's an older picture, made in June 2005. We went to an indoor ski centre in The Hague with some family. It was my first time skiing (as you can see). I didn't went skiing anymore although I liked it very much.

Ik ben getagged door MiekKs. De opdracht is om de vierde foto uit je vierde mapje op je blog te plaatsen. Bij mij zitten in het vierde mapje de trouwfoto's van mijn zus en zwager. Zij zouden het niet prettig vinden als ik deze op Internet zet dus ik heb het vijfde mapje met de vijfde foto genomen.
Dat is een oudere foto, gemaakt in Juni 2005. We zijn toen wezen skieen in een indoor ski centrum in Den Haag met wat familie. Het was mijn eerste keer skien (zoals je kan zien). Ik heb het daarna nooit meer gedaan terwijl ik het wel erg leuk vond!

Grey fingerless gloves

Two posts ago I showed you my mistake in the second fingerless glove. I also told you that I wasn't quit sure about the yarn I used. So I decided to make a new one with another yarn. Grey wool. I liked the yarn much more! It suits better, I guess. Meanwhile I could dream the pattern so these were made quick. Also it's a real simple pattern. No fingers or thum! Just a nice pattern (the barred stitch) and a string for the thum. Easy but still real pretty.
I like the way they turned out and they fit great. (there for me) I made them from a pattern out of the book 'Knitting New Mittens and Gloves' (see also ravelry)..And with 'Phildar Partner' wool in grey.


Twee berichten terug liet ik je zien hoe ik fouten aan het maken was in een tweede vingerloze handschoen. Ik zei toen ook al dat ik nog niet zeker was van het garen wat ik gebruikte. Dus ik besloot om verder te gaan met een nieuwe handschoen met ander garen. Grijze wol. Ik vond dit een veel beter resultaat! Past beter, denk ik. Intussen kon ik het patroon wel dromen dus deze waren snel gemaakt. Daarnaast is het ook een heel simpel patroon. Geen vingers of duim maar gewoon een leuke steek en een gehaakt koordje bij de duim. Heel simpel en toch weer apart.
Ik vind ze echt heel leuk geworden en ze zitten heel fijn. (ze zijn voor mij) Ik heb ze gemaakt volgens een patroon in het boek 'Knitting New Mittens and Gloves' (zie ook op ravelry).. En met 'Phildar Partner' wol in grijs.
